The Department of Slavic Languages of the University of Pennsylvania would like to invite the literary critic Mr. A.A.Yakobson to deliver a series of approximately five lectures here on Russian poetry. My colleagues and I feel that Mr. Yakobson could make a significant contribution to our program on Russian language and literature. Students and instructors from other colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area would also have the opportunity to attend his lectures.

The American side would pay for Mr. Yakobson's travel expenses from the Soviet Union and back as well as for his living expenses while in the United States. An honorarium would also be paid for each lecture.

Your help in making it possible for Mr. Yakobson to accept this invitation would be appreciated very much.

Sincerely Yours,

Morton Benson
Chairman
